What I Was Doing In Kenya

So what was I doing in Kenya? I had mentioned before that I had tagged along with Vestergaard-Frandsen. It turns out that the CEO of Vestergaard Frandsen decided to single-handedly create the world’s largest privately funded global health campaign.

It was so big, in fact, that even CNN decided to cover it:

The way I see it, the CEO of Vestergaard Frandsen basically packed his bags, liquidated a huge part of his personal savings, and went to Kenya to see how he could make a difference. Why does that sound familiar? πŸ˜‰

I definitely feel a kinship with Mikkel Vestergaard Frandsen – and his willingness to spend his own dime to do this is one of the many reasons I am proud to support these guys in whatever way I can.

i'm writing a paper about poverty of under developed nations and you're a major source:

"It's called The Uncultured Project," a blog created by an "average" guy who simply goes by the name Shawn.

Like I mentioned before… I knew Vestergaard Frandsen had a high "Awesome" content level, from them donating nets and what not to UP… but now it's pretty evident that their level is inching upwards to pure awesome…

I shared this vid with my girlfriend who works at an international non-profit and was a peace corps volunteer in a country in Africa and she was amazed at the number of people they got tested for HIV. I'm not sure Americans (and others) understand how big of a deal that over 47,000 people got tested out of some 50,000ish people (a guess from the numbers given) for HIV. That truly is an amazing percentage.

And while it may be a drop in the bucket over all… it's one amazingly BIG drop that's for sure.
