Want to donate in a tax deductible manner? Here are some organizations that I personally vouch for. If you want to donate directly to my project instead than click here.

Recommended Comprehensive International Charity

Save the Children - Not all charities are created equal. After starting this project and going out into the field, I quickly realized that Save the Children is the real deal. From their emergency response to Cyclone Sidr (which I have featured in many of my videos and many times on this blog) to their strong committment to helping not just children but also entire families and communities – you can never go wrong by donating to this organization. Save the Children is a secular charity and provides help regardless of race or religion.

Recommended Global Health Focused Organizations

These are organizations I vouch for because they specifically donate and distribute proven technology that help those in the developing world live safer and healthier lives.

Donate a Personal Water Purification StrawLifeStraw Personal is a portable water purifier designed and invented by Vestergaard Frandsen. One LifeStraw can provide someone with clean water for a year. I’ve used this myself and it works. LifeStraw Personal makes it possible to give someone portable access to clean drinking water for a year for as little as five bucks.

Buy-A-Net - If I didn’t realize the importance of mosquito control before my mother got hospitalized due to a mosquito-transmitted disease I definitely do now. Mosquito nets are the gift that can save a life. Buy-A-Net is a Canadian charity that distributes long-lasting insecticide treated mosquito nets called PermaNet. It’s what I sleep in and it’s very easy to see that it works. Unfortunately, Buy-a-Net does not operate or distribute nets in Bangladesh.

Nothing But Nets – Just like Buy-A-Net, Nothing But Nets distributes the long-lasting insecticide treated mosquito nets called PermaNet. This organization is great – they work with the American Red Cross, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the UN Foundation, the World Health Organization and UNICEF. Highly recommended.

Both the PermaNet and LifeStraw were developed by Vestergaard-Frandsen. My recommendation and endorsement of their products comes from the fact that I know their products work – I wasn’t required to endorse them.
